The Northwinds Hotel is a can’t-miss lodging choice in Canmore, Alberta.
Located at the foot of the Canadian Rockies, the Northwinds is a rare fairly-priced accommodation in the ever-popular area near Banff.
The Northwinds is part of the Basecamp Resorts family, meaning that sensibility rules the day (and night) without compromising comfort.
The hotel is well above no-frills; the room was wonderfully tidy, inviting, and comfortable. Above all, it was quiet despite its thriving location of just two to three blocks off the main action in town. The adjoining Bankhead Restaurant offered amazing local choices.
For those who want a high-end hotel, the Nordic-inspired hotel/spa Everwild Canmore is ever-present with health-and-wellness options. Those who stay here can luxuriate in spa day passes, thermal circuit access, massages, and much more.
The setting is chic and soothing to the eye. Soon, there will be three other Everwild properties in the area. One will be located in Banff and will include rooftop pools and spas. Another will be in Harmony, located just west of Calgary, and will be three times the size of the Canmore location and feature a setting directly on the shores of Harmony Lake. Yet another will open in the mountain town of Fernie, not too far north of the Montana border.
Rhythm & Howl is a great restaurant located inside the Everwild Canmore. It specializes in farm-to-table delicacies with ingredients from local suppliers. Rhythm & Howl offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Especially tasty for lunch were the brown butter and wild mushroom gnocchi and Alberta beef burger.
